Recenzija ručno tkane marame: Soul Slings Fennel

Soul Slings za sve i svugdje! [Soul Slings for everyone, everywhere!]

The English translation

Artisans at Soul’s weavery in the south of India have produced a new series of handwoven wraps named after spices.

The Spice series by the Indian company Soul Slings is manufactured in accordance with Fair Trade principles.

Fennel is a woven wrap of medium density (222 GSM) and its volume doesn’t increase much after washing. This is due to threads of firmly spun cotton which make the wrap feel like it’s made of combed cotton after only a bit of breaking in. This is a firm and resilient wrap that arrives quite soft off the loom. It differs only by color from the other two wraps in the series, Sumac and Paprika.

The weave is very airy, which makes it ideal for the summer, but no less suitable for the other seasons. It is easy to maintain and difficult to stain, and is a great choice for both newborns and heavy babies. This wrap has a width of 70 cm which is the standard for Soul’s slings and makes it excellent for tall toddlers.

Fennel has perfect wrapping qualities for beginners – the passes glide easily over each other, but there is still enough grip to prevent the wrap from being too slippery. When compared to the handwoven Prism wrap with a velcro grip, Fennel is much easier to wrap without feeling less safe or comfortable. On the contrary, being able to tighten it properly adds to my feeling of comfort.

Fennel is great for single-pass carries, but it really shines in multi-pass carries. I can’t wait for it to soften up with wearing and become perfectly gentle for my baby on the way. I quickly felt so comfortable with this wrap that I decided to use it in a video tutorial for one of my favorite pregnancy carries: Russian (Jordan’s) Back Carry.

The basic colors for this plaid wrap are petroleum and mustard that blend together into gold, dark green and dark turqoise, thus making the classic design multidimensional and fresh. This wrap kept me in the mood for listening to good old grunge hits by Nirvana, from the times when music had actual substance and value.

The handwoven wraps from Soul’s Spice series are available in sizes 3-9, and also as ring sling conversions. Once they’re sold out, they won’t be produced anymore.
